The Holy Spirit is nicely playing with two words in this word given to the Prophet Jeremiah. Almond tree is called H8247 Hebrew: שׁקד  [shâqêd] and another the word H8245 Hebrew: שׁקד [shâqad] to be alert,  sleepless, watch, watch for (to be on the lookout) whether for good or ill, hasten, rushen, remain, wake, awake. 

Actually the Holy Spirit reveals the true nature of God through the Almond tree. Our LORD never sleeps. He is watching, He is always alert! He is rushing to us as the Father to the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:20 <...> “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

Heavenly Father sleepless guarding, waiting for His children - any child: protocol son, the one at home. With only us turning to Him He is running with all the power to meet us. He is Watching and guarding us day and night. He is watching and rushing things to us, The LORD is working all things for the good of those who love Him. It is Amzing it is so great! Understanding the true God's nature makes me cry. I feel a lot of love from the LORD.

In this situation and everywhere God is the first also the first everything in between and the last. God is alfa & omega. Beginning & the end and far more, then we can comprehend. 

Our right approach to God also should be as to the first. We give all the first and all the best to God: the first moment of the day in the early moment, first words, first prayer, the first income, the first born, everything what is the first and the best. 

I see the Almond rod as a very powerful sign of God's true alert nature. Which is always present, always guiding, always first and the best.

While visually observing the written Israel name   ישראל l am in love with it . It is so beautiful!

The name itself is amazingly nice written. It consists of Heavenly letters standing by each other so perfectly arranged and having a lot of meaning. God Himself gave this name to Jacob.  It came from Heaven. It started with the struggling person. Today we talk about the whole nation as it was promised by God. I am convinced the promise is encoded in the name.

Genesis 35:10 God said to him, "Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel. " So he named him Israel. And God said to him, "I am God Almighty; be fruitful and increase in number. A nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.
